Very interesting analysis, as we would expect from Andrew Klinman in view of his previous writings, and we have drawn attention to it on our website Socialist Economic Bulletin at http://socialisteconomicbulletin.blogspot.com/.
Readers of The Commune may also be interested in the analysis presented there.

This is one of the best pieces of analysis so far. Two points to note, the role of the state and its intervention is not some massive backhander to fat cat capitalists as the various demos at the Bank of England claim, it is an act to secure capitalism itself. So the response from the traditional left that we outbid the government by demanding wider nationalisation is to miss the point completely as is the new enthusiasm for Keynes. Klimans analysis also reduces a veritable nonsense such arguments that greater state ownership is the 'invading socialist society'. A distortion of CLR james to say the least.

The second point I liked is that we cannot seperate the 'credit crunch' from what has been occuring in production as some analysts have tried to, in this case would it not be better to argue the recession in production we are now entering did not arise from the credit crunch but the credit cruch arose out of what happened in production?

Wow. I just stumbled upon this. Very detailed. I do agree the downturn hasn't been bad, but hopefully it will not worsen. Regarding mortgages, the federal gov't FHA and Bank of America/Countrywide have committed to helping over 800,000 homeowners between them keep their homes. I found more info on the programs here. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com under the mortgage link. I think the gov't, companies, you as a neighbor, everyone needs to get the word out on ways to get help. When it comes down to it, it will benefit us all if people take advantage of help...and stop this downturn from worsening.

You know, I have to tell you, I really enjoy this blog and the insight from everyone who participates. I find it to be refreshing and very informative. I wish there were more blogs like it. Anyway, I felt it was about time I posted, I've spent most of my time here just lurking and reading, but today for some reason I just felt compelled to say this.
