The new Con-Dem coalition government has promised to ring-fence education spending: but the cuts are already underway. Jobs, departments and student places are under threat across the board.

We must fight against such cuts. But we also have a broader critique of the system as it currently exists. So how can we link a successful struggle against attacks on education with arguments over the content of education?
